Welcome to Community Development!
Our team are responsible for developing and strengthening our links with the community through awareness-raising events, fundraising campaigns and promoting the charity.
Throughout the year we hold exciting and innovative events, competitions and challenges in the local communities. See the events page for what’s coming up, and visit the Piece of Mind page to learn about our current campaign.
In the recent past we’ve had saga writing competitions, art and photography competitions, music events featuring our house band “Skiffle Express”, a Wellbeing Month with dozens of entertaining and informative events, an Art Trail across west Kent, plus much more.
We also have many remarkable individuals who raise money for us through sponsorship. For example Running Ray, a 63 year old grandad, Emma Campbell and her Kilimanjaro trek, and Gavin Barden’s cycling.
We actively develop partnerships with local businesses and organisations. Working with West Kent Mind can demonstrate your company’s commitment to helping local people with mental health problems. It can also help raise your brand awareness. We have a good relationship with the local media and regular newsletters that go out to over 1000 supporters. In 2015/16 our website had over 7,000 users and we are active on Twitter (over 3,000 followers) and Facebook (over 400 ‘likes’).
We are always happy to promote the companies helping us! For example we have an excellent relationship with AXA PPP Healthcare, Direct Line, Barclays, Sainsbury’s and Halifax, as well as smaller business like our local Polish bakery T&W Bakeries, Heritage Windows, and Gaza Timber.
If you’d like to get involved we’d love to hear from you, and we will support you all the way! To help you get started we have compiled a list of fundraising tips and ideas. Download our Community Development leaflet for a handy overview of what we do.
