MH4 Community Champions
We are delighted to announce that Sevenoaks District Council is to fund a new project – MH4 Community Champions. This project will equip Sevenoaks District Council staff and members of the local community with increased knowledge of mental health, and will support them in sharing their knowledge with the wider community.
We are looking for volunteer champions who are passionate about mental health and challenging the stigma around it. Your passion will be vital to the success of the project. So do you have time to engage in a supportive and empowering training programme? Do you want to play your part in raising awareness and tackling stigma? Then please get in touch about becoming an MH4 Community Champion.
As a volunteer Community Champion you will be trained in the accredited two day Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course. You will then join us in our ongoing task of raising awareness and tackling stigma around mental health.
Jenny Godfrey, Community Development Director at West Kent Mind, said:
“It is so important to raise awareness of mental health, and West Kent Mind is always working to reduce the stigma that surrounds it. That’s why we are very grateful to Sevenoaks District Council for supporting us with the project. This is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to help educate people in the local community about mental health and wellbeing, and who wants to learn more about it themselves through the training.”
If you are interested in being a Community Champion please email Lucy for more information and an application form.
