Pippa’s Yoga raises £550

Every year Pippa’s Yoga likes to give something back to the local community as a way of saying thank you for all the support they’ve received. For 2018 Pippa’s charity choice was West Kent Mind. We’re very grateful for the marvelous £550 raised in a December Yoga session. Pippa said: “I’ve struggled with anxiety and depression since my teens. 2018 has been a particularly challenging year and I’ve been extremely lucky to have been able to access the support I’ve needed through mental health charities such as Mind....

Introduction to Mindfulness & Meditation

Mindfulness and Mindful Meditation has been a fast growing and popular method of helping people to manage stress, anxiety, anger and other overwhelming feelings.  By understanding that we do not have control over past events, nor can we control what happens in the future, we can start to engage more with the present moment.  We always have a choice how to respond to situations in the here and now. We will be running both taster workshops and longer 6 weeks courses in 2019/2020. Taster Workshops Our Mindfulness & Meditation Taster workshop...

Aleck Graeme Thomson

West Kent Mind trustee Aleck Thomson sadly died on 23 July 2018. I first met Aleck in the summer of 2011 and shortly afterwards, in September 2011, he joined our board. At that time Aleck was about to retire early from his position as a senior civil servant at the Home Office. It was clear right from the outset that his work and life experiences were going to be invaluable to West Kent Mind. Aleck’s expertise in governance and policy development meant that he quickly became the leading light in guiding and supporting West Kent Mind to gain...
