We currently have vacancies in our supported houses.   Applications should be received by 1 September.

Give time

We work to ensure that no-one faces a mental health problem alone, and you can see here all we do to help people with mental health problems and to promote better mental health. If you share our passion then please support us!

You can do this is many ways and not just through volunteering or donating though of course we depend on volunteers and on donations.

If you haven’t already, why not like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter? You might like to organise a fundraising event on our behalf. Keep an eye on our News and Events page for information about our own fundraising events and opportunities to sponsor our supporters.

VolunteerTelephone

We have many fantastic volunteers – currently over 100 – who help with all aspects of the running of the charity. There are many volunteer roles, and you can browse some of these below. For example if you are musical then our music group might be for you, or with your people skills maybe you could be an activity volunteer or befriender, and there are probably other roles we don’t even know about yet! We can often match volunteers to specific projects, so if you have a skill or talent you think we could use, please get in touch.

Enjoy the two minute video below for a flavour of volunteering with us.

The benefits of volunteering are twofold – we get the benefit of your time and skills, and you benefit from our experience and expertise plus you have the reward of being able to put something of value back into the community. Here are stories of two of our volunteers, Alex and Jane.

Meet Alex

Meet Alex. She is 17 years old and a regular volunteer at the Mums’ Support Group crèche. Alex has been coming to the crèche since she was a small child herself. Whilst her mum (now one of the facilitators of the Mums’ Support Group) came for support, Alex played in the crèche.

I like working with children and wanted to help here. I like the atmosphere here and always have. It is friendly and I know all the other helpers.

Meet Jane

Now meet Jane. She cared for Alex whilst she was a small child in the crèche. Jane continues to help run the crèche and has been involved with the Mums’ Support Group for 20-years.

Jane benefited from the group as a client by knowing that she was not alone, and with the support of the group she was able to progress and not feel so isolated. She was able to share her true feelings and fears and in return receive support and understanding. As she enjoys coming weekly for on-going support from the friends she has made over the years, when the time came to move on and make way for new clients Jane didn’t want to break the connection altogether, so she volunteered in the crèche.

The Group does not judge you for feeling how you feel. Part of the ethos is that it is a confidential, safe environment without restrictions so Mums can express themselves fully and in return receive support.  Without the support I received I feel that my life would not have been worth anything. After all these years, I still know that no one here will judge how I feel and what I say.  Whilst with others outside of this group I feel I have to be careful what I say about how I am feeling, here I can be my true self. We can all express ourselves in the way we feel comfortable.

If you would like to find out more about our work and more about how you could contribute to our mission then we’d love to hear from you! You can download a volunteer application form here in either Word or PDF format.
