Our Marathon Runners

All 5 of our London Marathon runners successfully completed their 26.2 miles on Sunday 23 April. It was a Mental Health marathon with the Heads Together campaign being spearheaded by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry. So it was fantastic for some of the runners to see them before the race, at the start line and at the Heads Together Reception afterwards.

Our runner Caroline reported: “At the start of the day the running conditions were perfect, although it did get a bit warm for those still out on the course after 4 or 5 hours. The atmosphere was really incredible, there were bands and a variety of music along the route. As well as the countless water stations there were members of the public handing out jelly babies, bananas and even sandwiches! It is true what they say that the crowd definitely helps to get you round at times when your legs really have had enough.

It is the most amazing feeling to turn the corner near Buckingham Palace and see that finish line within reach. Once over the line you are well looked after by the Virgin Marathon Volunteers and presented with your very heavy medal and goodie bag.”
