Volunteer Counsellors

Our affordable counselling service is made possible through the support of our volunteer counsellors and therapists. We offer a professionally supervised placement for trainee counsellors, many of whom continue as volunteers once qualified. We also have qualified volunteers who want to make available counselling and psychological therapy to those who could not otherwise access it.

We recruit according to demand on the service, however we keep all applications on file and refer to them at each recruitment drive. If you are interested in volunteering with us, please find below an overview of the service, a person specification and an application form.

We accept placement applications from counselling students of BACP-accredited courses or CPCAP courses. We do not normally accept placement applications from any other counselling courses. We accept placement applications from psychotherapy students on courses leading to UKCP accreditation. We also accept placement applications from students of CBT, art therapy and counselling psychology, note however that we may not be able to offer supervision in these modalities.

We particularly value applications from qualified counsellors and therapists who are working towards accreditation or who simply want to volunteer. If this applies to you please call or email Brian Pugsley for an informal discussion.
