Mental Health at Work Commitment

West Kent Mind are proud to have signed the Mental Health at Work Commitment.
Maintaining a workplace that supports positive mental health and encourages all West Kent Mind staff and volunteers to thrive is, and always will be, a top priority. We are committed to continually improving workplace culture and setting a precedent for mental health support in organisations across West Kent.

The Mental Health at Work Commitment is a framework based on the Thriving at Work standards, supported by contemporary research from UK employers and mental health experts. It is designed to provide organisations with actionable standards to improve workplace mental health.
The 6 standards that underpin this serve as practical guidelines to ensure organisations create a supportive environment for mental wellbeing.

Why is this important?

  1. By committing to the framework, West Kent Mind are taking a proactive leadership role in prioritising mental health. Implementing these standards exemplifies our commitment to making mental health a core organisational priority.
  2. We are joining a growing network of like minded organisations across the UK that prioritise positive mental health, reinforcing the importance of collective action in driving meaningful change.
  3. Our aim is to not only meet the 6 standards outlined but to serve as a model for other organisations, showcasing how prioritising mental health benefits employees and the workplace as a whole.

The framework outlines 6 clear standards based on what best practice has shown is needed to make a difference to positive mental health in the workplace. Using these, organisations can create an environment where employees can thrive.

Standard 1: Prioritise mental health in the workplace by developing and delivering a systematic programme of activity.

Standard 2: Proactively ensure work design and organisational culture drive positive mental health outcomes.

Standard 3: Promote an open culture around mental health.

Standard 4: Increase organisational confidence and capability.

Standard 5: Provide mental health tools and support.

Standard 6: Increase transparency and accountability through internal and external reporting.
