The good news is, you, your sports club or workplace can get involved and ‘Move for Mental Health’ however you choose… move your way this May!

Here’s a few suggestions:

  • Set a challenge, log the most active minutes, most participants active or most miles travelled as a team
  • Arrange a sponsored cycle, football match or swim
  • Go for a leisurely stroll with friends, club together and make an online donation to West Kent Mind
  • Host a sports day for friends at your local park for a suggested donation
  • Ask your colleagues to donate and take on an 80s inspired aerobics class!

Whatever you choose, join West Kent Mind and move for mental health this May!

We are here to ensure that adults and children with mental health problems get vital support through inclusive, engaging services that are designed to enable our local community to flourish and thrive.

But we can’t do that alone.

Our local community is everything to us and we need your support so that we can provide our vital services. Most importantly, every penny we raise is spent locally. So by getting involved your helping your colleague, team mate or neighbour right here in West Kent.

Being active offers numerous benefits for mental health:

Improved mood: Physical activity releases hormones associated with happiness.

Stress reduction: Activity can act as natural mood lifter and promote feelings of good well-being, especially if you are outdoors…connect with nature and clear your mind.

Anxiety support: Regular exercise can help reduce symptoms of anxiety by promoting relaxation, providing a distraction and helping to support overall coping abilities.

Better sleep quality: Exercise can promote better sleep by improving sleep quality and duration.

Cognitive benefits: Fitness activities promote brain health by increasing blood flow to the brain.

Social interaction: Participating in group fitness activities or team sports can provide opportunities for social connection and new friendships, which can support mental health and wellbeing.
