Here you’ll find our big vision (the change we are aiming for) and also our mission (the way we’ll achieve our vision). You can also read about our values – the beliefs, principles and attitudes that underpin our work and define the way in which we act and behave, as an organisation but also as individuals in it.

Our Theory of Change outlines the changes that need to happen for us to be able to achieve our ambition and you can find out more about that and read our Strategic Plan for 2021-24.

And if you have something to offer to our local community to help us realise our vision, we’d love to hear from you!

Stevie Rice CEO

Theory of Change and Strategic Plan for 2021-24.

We began this strategic process back in the autumn of 2019 when we worked with clients, staff, volunteers, trustees, stakeholders and partners in developing a Theory of Change for West Kent Mind. Since then we have been responding to Covid-19 and the widespread impact of the pandemic. It has changed all aspects of our lives, our health, our economy, our social connections, our jobs and of course, our mental health. The environment in which we now operate has changed dramatically in one year and this strategy has been developed in response to a very different set of drivers.

The positive mental wellbeing of people and communities living and working in West Kent is at the heart of all that we do.

Our support is responsive and targeted to those who need it most, providing help and resources to people living with mental health problems to enable them to get well, and to nurture and sustain their mental health.

Through a network of support groups, training, partnerships and opportunities we equip people with the tools they need to stay well, to maintain their own mental health, and to support others.

We aspire to better mental health and wellbeing for everyone in West Kent, supporting individuals, businesses and communities to thrive with knowledge, understanding, awareness and a positive approach to mental health.

We hope that this new strategy evidences where we will focus resources in the future to
meet the growing demand for services that we are anticipating in the coming years.

Kent Charity Awards 2021

At the Kent Charity Awards ceremony in Rochester Cathedral on 9 September 2021, West Kent Mind was named Disability and Mental Health Charity of the Year.

We are so utterly thrilled to be named the Disability and Mental Health Charity of the Year. So many charities have had the most challenging year through the pandemic and we are very humbled to be finalists amongst some outstanding charities.

Winning this award is a real testament to the energy, drive and ambition of all the staff, volunteers and the trustees who work for West Kent Mind. It is also an award for those people we work with who have chosen to share their stories, sought out our support and made us a part of their mental health journey.

We will continue to work with passion and determination to enrich lives through better mental health, by offering support to get well, stay well and thrive.

I enjoy knowing that the people I meet here understand mental illness and are so supportive and non-judgemental.
