Who needs Counselling Services?

You’re not alone – we all face painful situations, difficult decisions and sometimes feel overwhelmed. With years of experience, we understand the value of counselling in improving and maintaining mental health and wellbeing. We’re here to share how we can help you or someone you know, to cope with some of the challenges of everyday life:

  • Stress and anxiety

  • Emotional and relationship difficulties
  • Depression and low self-esteem
  • Bereavement
  • Job loss
  • Other difficult life situations

Which Counselling service is right for me?

  • Counselling provided by volunteer qualified counsellors and supervised trainees at an advanced stage of their training. This service is in high demand and usually has a waiting list for an assessment of approximately 10 weeks and then up to 24 weeks before counselling can begin.
  • Weekly 50 minute appointments are available on weekdays from 9am – 5pm, usually on the same day at the same time, however with shift work there are only limited opportunities to be seen outside of these times.
  • A fee is payable for each session, based on ability to pay and this will be discussed at assessment (the minimum is £10 per session).
  • We also charge an assessment fee of £10 which is payable on booking.
  • To request an assessment for this service call 01732 744950 or complete our secure online counselling assessment request form below.
  • On receipt of the request, we’ll contact you with some information about the service and details of how to book your assessment.

I felt immediately at ease with Dan and he quickly created a safe and supportive environment. This allowed me the time and space to open up and articulate my true feelings like never before.

Please note, we will not be recruiting trainee counsellors on placement until at least January 2022. However, we are looking for experienced and qualified therapists to join our busy team of volunteers.

Our affordable counselling service is made possible through the support of our volunteer counsellors and therapists. We offer a professionally supervised placement for trainee counsellors, many of whom continue as volunteers once qualified. Please read the overview carefully for details of who we accept applications from. We also keen to hear from qualified counsellors and therapists who are working towards accreditation or who want to volunteer to make counselling and psychological therapy available to those who could not otherwise access it. If this applies to you please email the counselling team to arrange an informal discussion.

If you are interested in volunteering with us, please find below an overview of the service, a person specification and an application form.
