West Kent’s Early Intervention Service for Children and Young People hits fundraising target early thanks to generous supporters!

We are thrilled to announce that, thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our supporters, we reached our fundraising target early for the Big Give Christmas Challenge! The funds raised will enable us to launch our Early Intervention Service for Children and Young People, a crucial initiative that will directly address the rising mental health needs of young people in West Kent.

The Early Intervention Service will specifically support those aged 11-18 with mental health problems. With the mental health crisis among young people continuing to grow, this service will provide vital early support, ensuring that children and young people in West Kent receive the care and support they need, as soon as they need it.

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who donated to the Big Give Christmas Challenge,” said Stevie Rice, CEO at West Kent Mind. “Thanks to your generosity, we were able to exceed our fundraising goal ahead of schedule. We are delighted to launch the Children and Young People Early Intervention Service, providing much needed support to young people who are facing mental health problems in West Kent.”

The Big Give Christmas Challenge, a UK-wide initiative, encouraged donors to give during the festive season, with all contributions being matched-funded- one donation, twice the impact! The funds raised will go directly towards the launch and sustainability of the new service, which aims to make a lasting difference in the lives of young people in West Kent.

This Early Intervention Service will provide access to expert guidance and support for young people with mental health problems, including low mood, anger anxiety and stress, low self-esteem, grief and loss, loneliness. By intervening at an earlier stage, the service will help to prevent long-term mental health problems and promote overall wellbeing.

“We know that mental health problems among young people are only increasing, and it’s vital that we take action now,” said Georgia Clarke, Head of Services at West Kent Mind. “With the funds raised through this campaign, we are taking a significant step forward in addressing the urgent need for better mental health support for young people in our community.”

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all those who supported the Big Give Christmas Challenge, including donors, volunteers, and the entire West Kent community. Your support will have a lasting, positive impact on the lives of young people in West Kent.
