Bradbourne Lakes: Rejuvenation, Community and Wellbeing
In October 2027, Bradbourne Lakes will close temporarily for rejuvenation as part of the Bradbourne Re-bourne project. This exciting initiative will restore and enhance this much-loved historic park while ensuring it continues to meet the needs of today’s community.
The project will conserve key heritage features, improve biodiversity and water management, and upgrade paths, play areas and facilities to create a more accessible and welcoming green space for everyone.
Alongside the physical improvements, the Rejuvenate programme, developed by Historic England, will use archaeology, heritage and nature-based activities to help people connect more deeply with the park’s ecological and historical significance, while also supporting wellbeing.
As part of this initiative, West Kent Mind has approved funding from Sevenoaks District Council to deliver a programme of free outdoor wellbeing support at Bradbourne Lakes.
What’s happening?
Our wellbeing programme will include three strands of support:
- Eco Counselling – one-to-one nature-based therapy delivered by trained counsellors
- Walk & Talk peer support groups – gentle guided walks combined with reflective discussion
- Outdoor Yoga – launching in 2027
Eco Counselling will prioritise adults experiencing anxiety, depression or low wellbeing, with each participant receiving eight outdoor therapy sessions in a calming natural setting.
Our Walk & Talk groups will run weekly for six weeks, supporting up to 10 adults per group and helping to reduce social isolation while building resilience and connection.
2026 Walk & Talk Groups will include:
- April – May: Parkinson’s walking group
- April – June: Corporate Wellbeing
- May – June: Parents, carers and babies
- May – June: Adults Wag, Walk and Talk (dogs welcome)
- June – July: Men’s group
- June – July: Small Business Wellbeing Walk
- July – August: Community Walk and Connect
- July – August: Parents, carers and babies
A unique opportunity for businesses
We’ve also reserved sessions specifically for Sevenoaks-based organisations. These provide a meaningful way to support employee wellbeing while engaging with a community project focused on heritage, nature and mental health.
