5 – 11 August is Local Mind Week, now in its third inspiring year.
Our mission? To help our clients, supporters and donors better understand the crucial role local Minds play within the broader national Mind family.
The Mind Federation – A network of support
When people think of Mind, they often don’t know that we are a federation or realise the distinct yet interconnected roles of national and local Minds. Local Minds are the heart and soul of the Mind network, delivering unique, targeted support to their communities. There are around 100 local Minds, here is how we all work together as a federation:
- National Mind: In collaboration with local Minds, develops strategies, campaigns, and standards to guide our collective mission of better mental health for all.
- Local Minds: Implement these strategies in ways that best meet the needs of their community, providing vital, on-the-ground support.
Local Minds – At the heart of the community
Every local Mind operates with a deep understanding of their communities’ challenges and needs. At West Kent Mind this local knowledge allows us to ensure that our support best meets the needs of people in West Kent with mental health problems, supporting them to get well, stay well and thrive.
Our support is responsive, adaptive, accessible and targeted. From counselling support to community groups, we strive to ensure that support is available where and when it’s needed, breaking down barriers to mental health care.
How can you make a difference?
Supporting your local Mind is a powerful way to contribute to your community’s mental health care and wellbeing. Here’s how you can help:
- Donate: Your financial support helps us continue providing essential services. Why not join our newly launched weekly lottery? Your weekly contribution would provide us with a steady stream of income that allows for sustained support and impactful planning.
- Volunteer: Give your time and skills to support West Kent Mind’s local community groups, events or administration.
- Spread the Word: Sign up to receive our newsletter and share our messages on social media and with friends and family, especially during local Minds Week where we’ll be using the hashtags #yourlocal mind #loveyourlocalmind
Together, we can make a real difference. Support your local Mind!
