This week, we’re celebrating the vital work of local Minds across the country.
But, let’s start with a difficult truth.
Mental health problems can affect anyone, at any time. They don’t wait for the “right moment”, and neither should support.
In West Kent, around 38,500 adults are living with a mental health problem. 1 in 5 children and young people are now experiencing mental health problems and in West Kent they wait on average of 10 weeks to get support, often longer.
Behind every statistic is a person.
💙 A parent struggling to cope.
💙 A child overwhelmed by their thoughts.
💙 A neighbour facing loneliness.
💙 A teenager unable to face school.
💙 A colleague hiding their anxiety.
These aren’t just numbers. They’re our friends, families, neighbours and community right her in West Kent.
That’s why we exist.
We’re here to make sure people feel heard, understood, connected and supported before they reach crisis point. Because everyone deserves access to mental health support, and no one should face a mental health problem alone.
Throughout Local Mind Week, we’ll be sharing more about the difference your local Mind makes every day across West Kent.
